In the Turntablists / Scratching world, the equipment is just as important as the skills. If you don't have the right skills, your just another beat-matching DJ. If you don't have the right gear, it's not different.
The reason your gear is important in the Scratching world, is because of the abuse you are going to put your gear through as you practice, and practice, and practice. Even after all of the practicing, your still going to have to practice some more. So, you can imagine the amount of work your are going to be putting your equipment through. |

These videos cover the absolute BASIC DJ Equipment needed to get started. Buy what you can afford, of course, with that said... watch out for the really cheap stuff. Sometimes it's better to save up and get the good stuff - vs - buying the cheaper stuff, only to have it break 3 months down the road with no warranty and not worth fixing. You'll have to balance between quality and budget. Check out our GEAR GUIDE section for tips and information on specific DJ Equipment.
