In the Turntablists / Scratching world, the equipment is just as important as the skills.  If you don't have the right skills, your just another beat-matching DJ.  If you don't have the right gear, it's not different.

The reason your gear is important in the Scratching world, is because of the abuse you are going to put your gear through as you practice, and practice, and practice.  Even after all of the practicing, your still going to have to practice some more.  So, you can imagine the amount of work your are going to be putting your equipment through.

There are many aspects in becoming a DJ.  Some do it for the love of music.  Others want to control a dance floor.  So for everyone, it's different.  Aside from a technical standpoint such as the basic DJ Equipment, you'll need some business skills, some marketing skills, and most importantly...
